Providing Lead Safe Certificates for
Norristown Municipality which comply with Ordinance 21-14 of 2021 and put into effect January 1, 2022

Norristown has passed an ordinance effective January 2022, requiring all properties to be rented or sold have a Lead Safe Certificate. Details can be found at:
THE PROCESS:
A Lead Safe test can be completed by a Lead Dust Sampling Technician (LDST).
First, the LDST will perform a visual of interior and exterior of property to be sure it is free of deteriorated, flaking, chipping, peeling, chalking or not-intact paint.
Second, the LDST will perform interior dust wipes in a common area and all bedrooms. A sample area will be taken from window sills and floors. The samples are sent to a local lab and tested for hazardous levels of lead-contaminated dust. When the results are returned within passing levels, a Lead Safe Certificate is issued. Typical turnaround is 3 to 5 days.
Third, We will email you and the Code office with the Lab Results, Lead Safe Cert, Our Norristown Business License, Company Certification and Technician Certification. We recommend you save the docs electronically for any future need. The Lead Safe Cert will be valid for 3 years.
